Robert J. Muldoon, Jr.


Robert J. Muldoon, Jr. is a former managing partner of the firm, co-chair of the Professional Liability Group and a member of the Litigation Department. He has represented numerous national and international corporations in commercial litigation, and has extensive experience in the defense of legal malpractice cases, life sciences and pharmaceuticals, land use and development and other real estate issues.

The U.K. publisher Chambers and Partners named Bob among the leading practitioners in the nation in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Chambers notes that Bob is "widely regarded as 'a fabulous, fabulous lawyer' who devotes his time to handling legal malpractice litigation and bet-the-company commercial cases. He is frequently engaged by Boston law firms as litigation counsel in malpractice cases, and is presently representing several pharmaceutical companies in litigation arising out of Medicare and Medicaid payments."

Bob was law clerk for the Hon. Paul G. Kirk, Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts from 1965-1966.

  • Major provider of hospice services in a dispute with another such provider where the contesting parties sought mutually to enforce terms of acquisition agreement and non-competition covenant
  • Obtained a substantial judgment for international pharmaceutical company in dispute with another such company concerning division of a multimillion dollar settlement of federal anti-trust action
  • Major Boston law firms in malpractice actions arising out of claims relating to intellectual property matters, including patent and copyright cases
  • Recently concluded a 31-day trial representing, among others, one of the country's major medical schools and a leading Boston hospital dealing with the continued operation and management of a substantial trust that supports the institution
  • Leading Boston hospital in matters relating to the operation and staffing of its epidemiology unit
  • Generic pharmaceutical company in Hatch-Waxman Act proceeding against brand company resulting in successful invalidation of medical product patent and in highly successful follow-on anti-trust action against that company, as co-counsel
  • Major Boston residential and commercial redevelopment partnerships in litigations arising out of land use, breach of contract, environmental, acquisition and tenant relationship issues, as chief litigation counsel
