With Foreign Capital becoming more active in the major US markets, and forecasting for activity from Chinese investors alone in 2016 to be $50 billion + in transaction volume (with large average deal sizes), there are still major logistical questions we need to be asking. How will regulators in the US and of the countries doing the investing respond? For foreign companies with confusing ownership structures, how can these buyers be assured of financing? And given the record-setting sums involved, what does the impact of these buyers willing to pay full prices mean for the systemic stability of the real estate industry?
