{"id":90,"date":"2020-12-23T14:59:31","date_gmt":"2020-12-23T19:59:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sherin.com\/hospitality\/?p=90"},"modified":"2023-04-04T10:29:31","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T14:29:31","slug":"massachusetts-restricts-business-and-venue-capacities-effective-december-26-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sherin.com\/hospitality\/2020\/12\/23\/massachusetts-restricts-business-and-venue-capacities-effective-december-26-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Massachusetts Restricts Business and Venue Capacities Effective December 26, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 22, 2020, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker issued COVID-19 Order No. 59, which temporarily limits statewide occupancy capacities at certain indoor and outdoor facilities.\u00a0 These restrictions are intended to slow the spread of COVID-19 and begin December 26<sup>th<\/sup> at midnight and will expire at noon on January 10, 2021 unless further extended.\u00a0 To read the Governor\u2019s order, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/doc\/covid-19-order-59\/download\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Capacity Restrictions: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Restaurants:<\/strong> Both indoor and outdoor restaurant dining remain permitted, but are limited to 25% of seating capacity.\u00a0 This 25% limitation applies separately to indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Workers and staff are excluded from the occupancy count.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Retail:<\/strong> All retail businesses are limited to 25% of capacity, and workers and staff are excluded from the occupancy count.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hotels:<\/strong> Hotels and other lodgings are limited to 25% of capacity in common areas only.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Events and gatherings:<\/strong> Indoor and outdoor events are limited to a maximum of 10 persons indoors and 25 persons outdoors. Workers and staff are excluded from the occupancy count. This applies to public event venues and private homes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>COVID-19 Order No. 59 also includes capacity restrictions for non-hospitality sectors and businesses.
