David I. Brody quoted in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly on proposed private wage-theft bills

David I. Brody, partner in the firm’s Employment Department, was quoted in the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly article “Employment bar split over private wage-theft measure” on September 15. This article discusses two bills that have been proposed in Massachusetts which would allow private wage theft lawsuits. It also predicts the results of the bill from the perspectives of both management and employee side attorneys.

“All it does is incentivize complying with existing law,” he said. “There is nothing unreasonable about expecting employers to treat employees fairly, to pay them a lawful wage, to provide it in a timely fashion. If employers think this legislation is so bad, that’s all they need to do: Follow the law.”
