Recent Pro Bono Matters

ABA Death Penalty Representation Project

For nearly two decades, Sherin and Lodgen has provided pro bono legal representation to a death-row inmate in Alabama through the ABA’s Death Penalty Representation Project. The firm is noted as one of the smallest firms in the country to take on this type of death penalty case. Sherin and Lodgen's ongoing representation in this death penalty case has not only prolonged our client’s life and assured equal access to justice, but has contributed to a reexamination of Alabama's execution protocol. The S&L team is led by John C. La Liberte and Matthew C. Moschella.

Appalachian Mountain Club

Sherin and Lodgen represented the Appalachian Mountain Club, in obtaining a trademark for its “Outdoors Rx” prescription program, which is a collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital to promote positive health benefits of outdoor activity for children and families. In addition, our representation has included establishing easements and rights of way for portions of the Bay Circuit Trail, a permanent recreation trail and greenway extending over 230 miles in Eastern Massachusetts, linking parks and open spaces in fifty-seven communities providing easy access to outdoor activity for over 4,000,000 people in the region.
