Our Firm

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

At Sherin and Lodgen, we are committed to fostering a workplace community that celebrates the diverse perspectives, knowledge, and experiences of our attorneys and professionals.

We are proud of the workforce we have created and are dedicated to increasing our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across all levels of the firm. Our DE&I initiative is driven by three pillars – Engage & Support, Listen & Learn, and Recruit & Retain. We focus our efforts on a broad definition of diversity, encompassing race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion, as well as diverse educational, work, and life experiences.

We seek to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion are engrained in our day-to-day approach to business – for the success and growth of our attorneys and staff and, ultimately, the quality of service for our clients.

Our Three Pillars of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Engage & Support
Listen & Learn
Recruit & Retain

To support these pillars, we:

  • Regularly support affinity bar associations and organizations, including the Asian American Lawyers Association, Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action, GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders (GLAD), Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys, and Women’s Bar Association.
  • Have an active Women’s Initiative focused on the advancement and success of our women attorneys and professionals.
  • Have an S&L Pride affinity group focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer inclusion efforts.  The group, comprised of LGBTQ+ attorneys and staff and allies, is focused on internal educational events, social programs, and community outreach. S&L Pride is chaired by Daniel S. Guenther, associate, and Karisa D. Hill, IT & operations specialist.
  • Share resources and thought leadership on DE&I topics internally.
  • Attend diversity, equity, and inclusion webinars and trainings and implement best practices into our hiring and evaluation processes.
  • Post all job opportunities with affinity groups and encourage recruiters with whom we work to increase diversity of candidates they present to us. See our Careers page for open positions.
