Edward M. Bloom, partner in the firm’s Real Estate Department was quoted in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly article, “Appearance of bias’ not enough to void real estate appraisal,” on December 10, 2018. The article covers Buffalo-Water 1, LLC v. Fidelity Real Estate Company, LLC.

From the article

“The court’s statement about balancing the desire to remedy true cases of fraud with the need for finality with appraisals is not only important in the real estate context but in many other areas of the law, said Boston attorney Edward M. Bloom, co-chairman of the Real Estate Bar Association’s Amicus Committee.

‘If this case had been decided in [the plaintiff’s] favor, it would have undercut the foundation of the use of alternative dispute resolution provisions in all kinds of legal documents,’ Bloom said.”
