Matthew A. Morris to speak during BBA webinar on attorney-client, work product, and tax practitioner privilege

January 12, 2021

Matthew A. Morris, tax partner in the firm’s Corporate Department, will serve as a panelist in an upcoming Boston Bar Association (BBA) webinar on January 20, 2021. The program, “Privilege in Tax: Practical Implications of Attorney-Client, Work Product, and Tax Practitioner Privileges,” will address the practical applications of attorney-client privilege, work product doctrine, and IRC section 7525 tax practitioner privilege. After discussing the standards and limitations of each privilege as interpreted by federal and Massachusetts courts, Matt and fellow panelists, Elizabeth Julia Smith of Ropes & Gray LLP and Mariano Beecher of the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, will provide some practical guidance for preserving confidentiality when working with clients’ in-house counsel, tax advisors, and third parties with common interests.
