Partner David A. Michel has been appointed Chair of the Federal Bar Association’s (FBA) Labor and Employment Law Section. His one-year term is effective as of October 2025. Previously, David was appointed the Labor and Employment Law Section Vice Chair for the 2024 – 2025 term, Section Deputy Chair for the 2023 – 2024 term, and served on the board of the FBA’s Younger Lawyers Division as 1st Circuit Representative.

David attended the FBA’s 2025 Annual Meeting & Convention in Minneapolis on September 13, 2025, where he and Immediate Past Chair Kate Simpson accepted the 2025 Section and Division Recognition Award on behalf of the Labor and Employment Law Section. The FBA’s Section and Division Recognition Award recognized the Labor and Employment Law Section for its outstanding leadership, innovative programming, and exceptional contributions to the FBA over the past year.

A partner in the firm’s Litigation Department, Michel assists clients in resolving complex business, real estate, and employment disputes. His experience includes representing companies in a variety of complex civil and commercial disputes in federal and state court and through alternative dispute resolution. In particular, Michel represents companies, developers, and landlords involved in real estate disputes, including adverse possession, and zoning. He also represents clients in employment matters involving restrictive covenants, discrimination, and wage and hour litigation.

Founded in 1920, the FBA is a national bar association with approximately 15,000 members and at least one chapter in almost every state. The FBA is dedicated to the advancement of the science of jurisprudence and to promoting the welfare, interests, education, and professional development of all attorneys involved in federal law. Its members run the gamut of federal practice: attorneys practicing in small to large legal firms, attorneys in corporations and federal agencies, and members of the judiciary. The FBA Labor & Employment Section is comprised of a diverse group of counsel: plaintiff side, defense side, counsel for the public sector and in-house counsel.
