Partner Jonathan F.X. O’Brien appointed Co-Chair of Business Law Department
Partner Jonathan F.X. O’Brien has been appointed co-chair of the firm’s Business Law Department. Jon will serve alongside fellow Department Co-Chair, C. Forbes Sargent III.
Jon concentrates his practice on corporate law and commercial real estate, advising clients on corporate formation, contract negotiation, joint ventures, licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and the purchase and sale of assets. He also represents clients in the resolution of shareholder and director disputes and other complex commercial matters.
Leveraging his domestic and international experience, Jon serves as outside general counsel to middle-market companies, advising clients through sophisticated transactions and strategic growth initiatives. He is actively involved with the worldwide alliance of independent law firms, Lexwork International, supporting cross-border transactions and representing French companies doing business in the United States.
Jon’s cross-border work and client base are the result of having worked in Paris and New York prior to joining the firm. Having worked in France during the early part of his career and passing the Paris bar exam, he advises several European firms on their US businesses and investments.
He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, and Paris. He has acted as Chair of the Boston Bar Association’s International Law Foreign Lawyers Committee, as well as the Town of Sudbury’s Zoning Board of Appeals, and is a member of the French-American Chamber of Commerce, New England.
“Jon’s depth of experience and global perspective make him an outstanding choice to co-chair our Business Law Department,” said Sara Jane Shanahan, Managing Partner of Sherin and Lodgen. “We are confident he will continue to expand and strengthen the group’s impact and growth, particularly in emerging and sustainable industries.”
